Dedicated Care and Compassion

At the heart of Twala Trust lies a team of dedicated individuals who are deeply passionate about animal welfare. Led by Sarah Carter and Resident Veterinarian Dr. Vinay Ramlaul, the team provides round-the-clock care, ensuring that each animal receives the attention and specialized treatment they require.

Twala Trust Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit organization in Zimbabwe that provides a safe haven for animals who have fallen victim to human-wildlife conflict, injury, abandonment, or abuse. With a focus on providing the best possible quality of life for the animals in its care, the sanctuary is home to over 50 species of animals and birds, including lions, primates, reptiles, and antelope. In addition to its wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center, refuge for abandoned exotic pets, farm sanctuary, and dog shelter, The Twala Trust also offers community outreach programs that provide free veterinary care to rural dogs and educate school children about conservation and animal welfare.

Rehabilitation and Release

Whenever possible, Twala Trust strives to rehabilitate rescued animals to the point where they can be safely released back into the wild. This process involves gradual reintegration into their natural habitats, allowing them to regain their survival skills and independence.

Education and Awareness

The Twala Trust recognizes the importance of education and awareness in promoting animal welfare. They actively engage with the community through educational programs and outreach initiatives, fostering a deeper understanding of the plight of animals and the need for conservation.

CommunityOutreach

Twala provides free veterinary care, including sterilizations and vaccinations, to 600 rural dogs in low-income households. They also offer a feeding program and education on animal welfare and conservation. This holistic approach allows low-income families to have dogs without financial burden. An outdoor library has been created for young dog owners to access books and drawing.  More than 2.000 dogs have been sterlized and 5,000 vacinated against rabies in the span of the last years upto 2022. Twala Trust supports the local school with free conservation education and materials.

Supporting Twala Trust's Mission

For those who share a passion for animal welfare, the Twala Trust offers a unique opportunity to volunteer and contribute to their mission. Volunteers can assist with animal care, feeding, and enrichment activities, while also gaining valuable insights into animal behavior and conservation practices.

The Twala Trust relies on the generous support of individuals and organizations to continue their vital work. Donations, sponsorships, and volunteer efforts play a crucial role in ensuring that the sanctuary can continue to provide a safe haven for animals in need.
